I definitely think it's best when you have some acoustic treatment in your room already and just want to get an even closer to flat response. I don't know if they sound flat because I have no real reference with my exact monitors in a pro studio but I feel like when I'm mixing now, I have an easier time with the low end which is where my issue lied.Įveryone's room will be different and I'm sure how you take the measurements and what mic you use would change the results but I do think sonarworks 'works' in the sense that it does help to flatten what you hear coming from your monitors. like how do you know what flat sounding monitors sound like in your room? that's sort of the point of sonarworks imo. I'm not sure how you can say it doesn't sound flat if you have no flat reference with your specific monitors in a room that's been professionally treated. Once their own branded mic arrived I re did it and used a mic stand (it took longer but I wanted to give it the best shot) and I'm super pleased with the results. While I was waiting for the mic to arrive I tried it with a cheap ECM8000 nock off and had weird results (perhaps because the mic wasn't calibrated and I didn't use a mic stand) and had a weirdly sharp high end.

I recently bought soundID and their mic and I couldn't be happier with the results. Would love to hear some other people's experiences with the program, and whether the results I've got were to be expected or whether it should actually be doing much more.
